Finishing the Race: Anti-Inflammatory Diet Experience Week 4

One Patient’s ongoing experiences with the Anti-Inflammatory Diet

Cravings: The sugar cravings are finally vanquished for good! I don’t need or even want sweets and standing in the checkout line in Wal-Mart is so much easier, because that temptation isn’t there anymore. I used to give in and get a little candy bar, thinking to myself that, “I have been working hard, so I deserve this.” Not anymore! Now I start to think “I have been working hard, so I deserve better than this.”
I already know when this became a huge turning point for me. Yes, cravings go away after a little while, but it went away so much faster when I started the Gut Flora that Cathy Phillips and Dr. Noorda had me start taking. I learned from Cathy that sugar cravings come from yeast in the body, and that the Gut Flora helps to get rid of that. That was all the prompting I needed to start this right away. I am now on my 3rd weekend of taking this and I can already tell that it is going to last me at least 3 more weeks, which is so nice! In the pamphlet I was provided ‘GI Flora Balance Program’ by Standard Process and Medi Herb, it tells exactly what the Gut Flora Complex is made of.
Gut Flora Complex:

Anise and Oregano essential oils – traditionally ingested to promote health in the intestine, for example through the reduction of flatulence.

Oregano, Phellodendron (containing berberine), and Andrographis – used traditionally to cleanse the lower GI tract, encouraging proper intestinal flora.

Andrographis – supports a healthy immune response and promotes vitality.

This stuff really works, and I would recommend it to everyone. This is something that you don’t have to take just during this diet experience. The Gut Flora cleans you out, so why not take 6 weeks, 2 or 3 times a year to do it. Everyone keeps their cars well maintained to run well so why not our bodies??

Weight: I am very pleased to say that I am still losing weight! It has slowed down, but it is steady. For week 4, I have lost 1 more pound. I like to joke around now and say that I can’t wait too much longer to shop for new clothes because my current ones are starting to look ridiculous on me (especially my shorts!). Weight is only a number on the scale, and as happy as I am to see it, it is my growing confidence in myself that I value even more. I set out on this Anti-Inflammatory Diet to make me feel better because my stomach was hurting all the time. I was sick of feeling that way. My confidence has grown with each time I turned away from temptation.

What I have learned: During these 4 weeks, I have learned how much my body and my health matter to me. This doesn’t mean that I completely disregarded it before, but now I am more aware of what I am putting in my body and how each food affects me personally. Everyone’s bodies are different. And it just takes a bit of work to figure our own out.
I am so thankful for the support of my family, friends, and those at Balanced Spinal Care. I have been educated every step of the way. It wasn’t like, “Here, take this and it will make you feel better.” It has been, “Here, take this and let me explain why this will help you.” What a difference this has made. Now I feel like I can go out on my own and make my own smart decisions with my food choices because I have been educated on it.
I have to admit that in the past, I have done countless other diets to get myself better and to lose weight. But with each one, I never lasted long because I could feel it just making things worse. With the Anti-Inflammatory, I know as a fact that the foods I am putting into my body are healthy for me. And I am encouraged to eat my 3 meals a day, plus snacks in between. They tell me to eat as much as I want, as long as it sticks with the plan. I have never felt better, and this is something that I am going to stick to. Once I have felt the difference, I am defiantly not going back to how I felt before!
